In 1923 Tommy Milton’s pole qualifying speed at the hallowed grounds of The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was 108.170 mph.
In 2023, Álex Palou’s qualifying speed was 234.217 mph. Amazing, right!
Well, also remember that Tony Stewart, in 1997, got the pole at 233 mph. Wait! What? The cars have only got 4 mph faster in the last 30 years?

We hereby ask Roger Penske to set aside old notions of speed and racing, to create a new challenge in racing.
